Olympus Has Fallen

In saptamana de vacanta, am fost cu un prieten la cinema si am vazut acest thriller cu Gerard Butler (The Bounty Hunter, The Ugly Truth, RocknRolla, P.S.: I love you si Nim’s Island), a carui fana infocata sunt, simpaticul Morgan Freeman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight, Wanted si Batman Begins) si Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight).

The Raven

When I saw the trailer of this movie I said to myself instantaneous that I HAVE to watch it. This was in March this year, but I didn’t manage to see it in the theater because of a busy period then. So I downloaded it and watched it last week with my mum. Was really good: a drama/mystery/thriller with John Cusack and Luke Evans ( The Three Musketeers).

storyline via imdb: This movie is set in the mid 1800s and involves Edgar Allan Poe, the poet. A serial killer is on the loose and murdering people using Poe’s descriptions from his published poems. So Poe teams up with Detective Fields, a Baltimore policeman to try and catch the killer by using his knowledge of the descriptions. Even though the poems are fictional, they start to become reality and the killer is a step ahead of them. Then it takes on a personal note as Poe’s lover becomes a target. Will they stop the killer in time?

The Dark Knight Rises

WARNING: This article is very long and contains spoilers!

Finally!!!! After four years of waiting for this sequel, I’ve finally seen it eight days ago. And it was worth the waiting. Like I said in the post where I presented my Spiderman review, I love superheroes, but Chris Nolan’s Batman movies aren’t just cheap films with fights. They are psychological and deep. Have you seen other movies directed by Christopher Nolan, like The Prestige or Inception? If the answer is yes, you’ve got to know what I’m talking about here. Four years ago, I simply loved the Joker. And no, I had no idea about Heath Ledger, the fact that he was dead or stuff. He was brilliant; I realized it even if I was 12 years old. And I cried when I found out that he was just 28 when he died. I’ve made an obsession for him and The Dark Knight became my favorite movie ever (that’s why I’ve seen it more than 25 times haha).

2008 was also the year when I discovered my thing for cinematography and because of my passional way of being, I’ve had several small crushes on different actors, like Tom Hardy (Rocknrolla, Inception, This means war), when I saw him in 2009 in Wuthering Heights – television movie. Back then he was no famous actor, but now his time has come and he deserves it because he is extraordinary talented. In the end of The Dark Knight, the Joker doesn’t die: he’s just caught by the SWAT teams; so I guessed Christopher Nolan wanted to make a sequel also with Joker. But six months before the premiere, Heath Ledger was found dead in his apartment in New York City. So Chris had to choose another villain: Bane. And who else to play Bane, but Tom Hardy?! He did a great job out of his part and I think everybody loved it. Christian Bale (The Prestige, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Public Enemies) was as usual the perfect Batman and Bruce Wayne (sorry George Clooney and Val Kilmer). I had to admit that at first, I wasn’t very thrilled about Anne Hathaway (Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada, Becoming Jane and Valentine’s Day) playing Selina Kyle, but even I, as a girl, have to face the truth: she was a very sexy and charming Catwoman. I was very looking forward to seeing Marion Cotillard (Public Enemies, Nine, Inception and Midnight in Paris), but in the end I was very disappointed to learn that she was the brain behind the evil plan and not Bane. However, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (10 Things I Hate About You, 500 Days of Summer and Inception) didn’t let me down. I burst into tears when a woman called him Robin in the end of the film. The rest of the cast was pretty great: Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, Daniel Sunjata, Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy.

Well… a masterpiece indeed :) I’ve seen in twice, once in IMAX and I’d do it again! Hope this was helpful and enjoyable and thank you for reading!

storyline via imdb: Despite his tarnished reputation after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent’s crimes, Batman feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope with Bane’s plans to destroy the city.

Gone

Last Sunday, right after I came back from Italy, I met my bff and we went to the cinema to watch Gone, a thriller with Amanda Seyfried and Sebastian Stan. I really liked the story, though I was freaking out while I was watching it. The only thing I’d change about this movie is the ending: I didn’t like that Jill kills the serial killer even if he deserves it. Like this she comes down to his level.

storyline via imdb: When her sister disappears, Jill is convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years ago has returned, and she sets out to once again face her abductor.

Limitless (2011)

Some days ago, because it was Bradley Cooper’s birthday, I wanted to watch a movie with him. I chose Limitless, a nice thriller also with Robert De Niro. I can’t say it’s one of my fav films, but I enjoyed it especially because Bradley is so damn hot :D

storyline via imdb:

An action-thriller about a writer who takes an experimental drug that allows him to use 100 percent of his mind. As one man evolves into the perfect version of himself, forces more corrupt than he can imagine mark him for assassination. Out-of-work writer Eddie Morra’s (Cooper) rejection by girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) confirms his belief that he has zero future. That all vanishes the day an old friend introduces Eddie to NZT, a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive. Now on an NZT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie’s read, heard or seen is instantly organized and available to him. As the former nobody rises to the top of the financial world, he draws the attention of business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as the tool to make billions. But brutal side effects jeopardize his meteoric ascent…
