In filmul biografic Hitchcock cu o distributie excelenta: Anthony Hopkins (Legends of the Fall si The Silence of the Lambs), Scarlett Johansson (He’s Just Not That Into You, Vicky Cristina Barcelona si The Prestige) si Jessica Biel (New Year’s Eve, The A-Team, Valentine’s Day, The Illusionist si Elizabethtown) este surprins momentul din viata marelui regizor cand, lipsit de inspiratie, citeste romanul Psycho, care va deveni, cu multe sacrificii, cel mai cunoscut film al sau.
Last week I saw „Vicky Cristina Barcelona”, a movie that has been on my list since 2009. It was released in my country, Romania. The story is: Sexually adventurous Cristina and her friend Vicky, who is bright but cautious, holiday in Barcelona where they meet the celebrated and wholly seductive painter, Juan Antonio. Vicky is not about to dive into a sexual adventure being committed to her forthcoming marriage. But Cristina is immediately captivated by Juan Antonio’s free spirit and his romantic allure is enhanced when she hears the delicious details of his divorce from fellow artist, the tempestuous Maria Elena. I enjoyed watching it, but the ending was disappointing: none of Cristina and Vicky remains with Juan Antonio and the message, for me was: don’t follow your dreams. Penelope Cruz I liked. Her role was very hard, in my opinion and I think she deserved the Oscar she received for the part.
