The Dark Knight Rises

WARNING: This article is very long and contains spoilers!

Finally!!!! After four years of waiting for this sequel, I’ve finally seen it eight days ago. And it was worth the waiting. Like I said in the post where I presented my Spiderman review, I love superheroes, but Chris Nolan’s Batman movies aren’t just cheap films with fights. They are psychological and deep. Have you seen other movies directed by Christopher Nolan, like The Prestige or Inception? If the answer is yes, you’ve got to know what I’m talking about here. Four years ago, I simply loved the Joker. And no, I had no idea about Heath Ledger, the fact that he was dead or stuff. He was brilliant; I realized it even if I was 12 years old. And I cried when I found out that he was just 28 when he died. I’ve made an obsession for him and The Dark Knight became my favorite movie ever (that’s why I’ve seen it more than 25 times haha).

2008 was also the year when I discovered my thing for cinematography and because of my passional way of being, I’ve had several small crushes on different actors, like Tom Hardy (Rocknrolla, Inception, This means war), when I saw him in 2009 in Wuthering Heights – television movie. Back then he was no famous actor, but now his time has come and he deserves it because he is extraordinary talented. In the end of The Dark Knight, the Joker doesn’t die: he’s just caught by the SWAT teams; so I guessed Christopher Nolan wanted to make a sequel also with Joker. But six months before the premiere, Heath Ledger was found dead in his apartment in New York City. So Chris had to choose another villain: Bane. And who else to play Bane, but Tom Hardy?! He did a great job out of his part and I think everybody loved it. Christian Bale (The Prestige, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Public Enemies) was as usual the perfect Batman and Bruce Wayne (sorry George Clooney and Val Kilmer). I had to admit that at first, I wasn’t very thrilled about Anne Hathaway (Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada, Becoming Jane and Valentine’s Day) playing Selina Kyle, but even I, as a girl, have to face the truth: she was a very sexy and charming Catwoman. I was very looking forward to seeing Marion Cotillard (Public Enemies, Nine, Inception and Midnight in Paris), but in the end I was very disappointed to learn that she was the brain behind the evil plan and not Bane. However, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (10 Things I Hate About You, 500 Days of Summer and Inception) didn’t let me down. I burst into tears when a woman called him Robin in the end of the film. The rest of the cast was pretty great: Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, Daniel Sunjata, Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy.

Well… a masterpiece indeed :) I’ve seen in twice, once in IMAX and I’d do it again! Hope this was helpful and enjoyable and thank you for reading!

storyline via imdb: Despite his tarnished reputation after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent’s crimes, Batman feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope with Bane’s plans to destroy the city.

North & South (2004)

I’ve always loved BBC films. Be it movies, miniseries or serials, they are always beautiful, deep and sensitive. Pride and Prejudice (1995) with Colin Firth was the first miniseries with the same title as a novel which I loved. I’ve watched it three times. Then I watched Robin Hood (2006) where I’ve „met” Richard Armitage. He played there the villain, sir Guy of Gisborne, but believe me: he can play magnificently a romantic man as well. You can check this by watching „North & South”, a story very similar to Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It takes four hours, has an amazing soundtrack and makes you cry for sure. Margaret Hale moves with her family in Milton and meets John Thornton. Though she thinks very poor of him, Thornton falls in love with Margaret, because she’s different from the other women around him. When he proposes to her, she refuses him, as finally to realize that, despite all, she cares for him too.

storyline via imdb: This series operates on many levels. At the heart of the series is the tempestuous relationship between Margaret Hale, a young woman from a southern middle class family who finds herself uprooted to the north, and John Thornton, a formerly poverty-stricken cotton mill owner terrified of losing the viability of his business. Around them are class struggles between the workers and mill owners and ideological struggles between the industrial North and the agrarian South. After moving North, Margaret’s father befriends his student Mr. Thornton. Margaret has already formed her opinion of Mr. Thornton independently after seeing him treat his workers harshly. As the series progresses, she and we the audience begin to learn that his strict treatment is due to an overarching concern for his mill and by extension, his employees. John Thornton, on the other hand, is attracted to Margaret’s independence and position in society as a well-educated Southerner…

Here are my favorite songs from North & South:

New The Dark Knight Rises Trailer

OmG, I know this is the second movie post in a row, but I can’t help myself: I’m freaking out! The second trailer for The Dark Knight Rises this summer was realised! The date we’re gonna watch this amazing movie is July, 20th. Be sure I’ll be the first one to book my seat! And the biggest surprise is:… well, you can check it for yourselves (Romanian people, be proud!!!).

The cast is so great, I’m melting here: Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, Marion Cotillard and Anne Hathaway. At first, I thought Levitt is going to play Robin’s part, but it seems that I’m wrong; I’m sure Bane (Tom Hardy) will be a brilliant villain (not better than the Joker though). From the video below you can see that he destroys a plane during its flight, he frees the prisoners from a prison and he has a great line: when Wayne asks him why he didn’t kill him, Bane answers: „Your punishment must be more severe.” Isn’t that marvelous? :D Can’t wait!

I’m the kind who sits up in his room

Well, I promised you guys a bigger post, so here it is! I’ve been thinking since summer to write it, but I have never had the mood until now. People who know me well, would describe me as obsessed or even crazy… in a good way (I hope). The thing about me is that I live in my own world; I fell in love with (lots of) movie characters and I make research, research and again research until I find everything about that man. People who know me better can say that I do the same thing in real life, but this is another topic that I’m not going to discuss here and now. So, coming back to the actual post, I’m gonna make a top of my favorite men in chronological order. And if I put a *, this means the obsession took more than a few weeks/months.

1. Christopher Uckermann* – From the band RBD; I started loving him in 2006 and I still like him a lot: I follow him on Twitter, I have photos of him on my phone, but of course it’s not the same like then. He is 25 now, so I liked him when he was just 19. I liked his talent (he can play the guitar, the drums; he also sings and acts) and his looks.

2. Heath Ledger* – I can say about him that he was my greatest obsession ever. I read tons of articles and I’ve seen documentaries on TV about him , but unfortunately, he passed away before me knowing so much stuff about him. I first saw him in The Dark Knight as the Joker, where he blowed minds and kicked asses and next were Casanova, 10 things I hate about you and others. I love-love-love his acting, he was extremely talented: that’s why he received an Oscar and a Golden Globe award. I love his Australian accent, his smile and his looks.

3. Robert Pattinson* – first of all, I loved the character who made him famous: Edward Cullen. Twilight is the first book that I read without stopping in two days because that vampire was so romantic, loving and protective. It was impossible for me to resist him as it was for Bella. From the whole saga I like the most the first movie/book. Maybe the impact was bigger at the beginning or maybe volume one is better. I don’t know and I don’t care. And we have to admit that Robert looked perfectly gorgeous in 2008. Then I saw him in Remember Me, another romantic movie, so yeah… Now I’m very looking forward to seeing him in Bel Ami. I read that book especially for him and I also bought a book with his biography.

4. Taylor Lautner – I know it’s a little bit awkward to love so much two different characters that are also enemies, but I can’t help myself. Taylor is younger and hotter than Robert. In the book I totally prefer Edward, because he has the most amazing personality ever, but on the screen Taylor looks better. Than I saw him in Valentine’s Day and in Abduction… that abs, that arms, that face… so so so hot!

5. Diego Forlan – well, yeah, a football player. It had to be a football player in my list too! I first „met” him when he was playing for Uruguay in the world cup 2010. His nickname was „the blonde angel of Uruguay” which is so damn true! Just looking at his face and you can say: YES, THIS IS A GOOD MAN! And I’m not speaking just metaphorically… I typed his name on we♥it and I hardly managed to pick a photo with him with clothes on.

6. Jim Morrison – I started to like him in July 2010: after visiting his grave in Paris I documented myself, listened to some of The Doors songs and fell in love with his black leather pants, his mentality, his lyrics and his cute curly hair. I’ve seen a movie about him with Val Kilmer and I still have a documentary called When You’re Strange in my laptop.

7.  Ian Somerhalder* – Damon, Damon, Damon Salvatore. Man, I still love him so! I love Ian and I love Damon, though they are very different persons, but if I had to choose, I’d go with Damon. Damon is sarcastic, strong, charming and „totally hot”; Ian is shy, kind-hearted and helpful. Damon drives me crazy and I’m craving to see him with Elena; I want so badly him to have a serious relationship, not just one night stands. After Heath, this man I love the most now. Unfortunately, The Vampire Diaries is the only movie I’ve ever seen with Ian, but soon I’m gonna download Lost and other films with him.

8. Richard Armitage – loved his character in BBC’s series Robin Hood where he played bad boy Guy of Gisborne. I loved the passion in him, his height, his British accent and his dark black hair.

9. Tom Hardy – I know him since 2009 when I saw him as Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights. Then I heard he is going to play Bane, the villain, in Christopher Nolan’s last Batman movie. And in February this year I saw This means war where he completely won me, followed by Rocknrolla. I think he is more sexy than beautiful.

10. Alexander Skarsgård* – Eric in True Blood, so this is my latest obsession. All I know about him in real life is that he is Swedish, he is 194 cm tall, he is sarcastic, his English has no accent and he doesn’t speak that much. I love Eric’s feelings for Sookie, Eric’s way of talking and thinking.

Basicaly, this is my top 10. I also had small crushes (a couple of days) on Ryan Gosling from Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Notebook and Blue Valentine, Logan Lerman from The Three Musketeers, Stephen Moyer from True Blood, Brad Pitt from The Strange Case of Benjamin Button, Troy, Legends of the fall and Interview with the Vampire, Rupert Grint from Harry Potter, Ashton Kutcher from No strings attached, Killers, Valentine’s Day, Spread and What Happens in Vegas, Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl and J. Edgar, Colin Firth from Pride and Prejudice and Leonardo Dicaprio from J. Edgar, Inception, Shutter Island, Blood Diamond and The Departed.

My fingers and back hurt so I’m gonna end now, before you will think I’m a total freak. Unless you don’t think that already. Thank you for reading!

The Three Musketeers

Last weekend I went to the cinema to watch this movie in 3D and I’m not disappointed: the cast, though I knew only Orlando Bloom – first time I see him as the villain – was great chosen! Mila Jovovich (as Milady) is such a beautiful woman and a great actress, Logan Lerman (here as d’Artagnan; known for „Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief”) is so handsome and Matthew Macfadyen (here as Athos; known for „Pride and Prejudice” where he was Mr. Edward Darcy) very sexy. The film was funny, full of action and absorbing.

Storyline via imdb: The hot-headed young D’Artagnan along with three former legendary, but now down on their luck Musketeers must unite and defeat a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war.
